My FIRST of the Seven Wonders

Today we worked at the Haven until 12:30 and then drove 2 and a half hours to Livingstone. After we arrived we checked into our hotel, the Protea. It is so nice and makes you feel like you are somewhere tropical. We have tried to talk Dr. Weaver into letting us commute from here everyday to the Haven. . .don't think its gonna happen! haha.

After we checked in, we walked over to a shopping center and grabbed a quick bite to eat at a place called Steers. This place was like the McDonalds of Africa. Everything in Livingstone is so nice and new.
We also got to go shopping at a supermarket after dinner. (prob about the size of a kroger) This was quite the experience! They do not have anything you are used to seeing/buying. It was neat to just go down each isle and look at the different brands and types of foods they offer here in Africa. Kaylee and I purchased "Heinz two minute noodles" aka Ramen noodles. So, i'll letcha know how they are. At about 8:30 we all loaded up in "khaki jackie" with our ponchos and headed 5 min down the road to the Falls in hopes of getting to see a glimpse of a moonbow!

For those of you that don't know... Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Wonders of the World...and a "moonbow" is a rainbow at night that can only be seen at certain times when there is a full moon and really clear sky. Only a few places in the world have moonbows and it only happens during a certain few days of the year so it is a really rare thing to get to see this phenomenon! (If you're a nerd like me you can google it to learn more about it and see more pics)

When we got there, as soon as we stepped our feet outside the car we could hear the thundering of the waves.... but little did we know what we were about to see! Our tour guide named Monday led us to our first overlook of the falls! When we got there I couldn't believe my own eyes! There was A RAINBOW straight across the bottom of the falls. It was THE MOST amazing thing I have ever seen....hands down. You cant really tell from the pictures, but it is so beautiful.

(pics complimentary of rachel)
We got to walk to a handful of different overlooks and even got to put our hands in the water right by the rushing rapids at the top. (don't worry we were really careful, haha)

I cannot even begin to describe how amazing the view was..... God did an amazing job designing this. It is literally breathtaking!

******We plan on going back to Victoria Falls at the end of our trip, except this time during the day. So, we should get a lot of REALLY neat pictures so that you can see it a lot better!

Tomorrow we plan on eating breakfast and heading back to the Mission at about 10:00. It will be nice to get to sleep in, get a hot shower, and enjoy a good breakfast here at the hotel. We will begin work again at the Haven tomorrow afternoon. Kaylee, Marja, Catherine and I will continue working with the toddlers on language enrichment.
